Comparative Law

The topic of comparative law is one of the key areas of expertise at the Institute, in respect of which the Institute has distinguished reputation as one of the leading comparative law research institutes globally.

Whilst comparative law is an independent research sphere in its own right, many of the general BIICL projects involve aspects of comparative and transnational law, whether they deal with private or public law, international or domestic topics. As well as research projects on comparative law as an academic subject, we undertake practical-orientated and commissioned research on comparative law themes. Current and past projects have also examined the use of comparative law by national and international courts, and more generally in the forensic process.
