COVID-19 Vaccine Briefing
Briefing paper calls for bespoke compensation scheme to be created for possible adverse effects caused by a COVID-19 vaccine
BIICL Senior Research Fellow in Comparative Law & Director, Product Liability Forum Professor Duncan Fairgrieve is part of the interdisciplinary project on Covid-19 vaccines which also includes researchers from the University of Manchester and Oxford University. The group today publish a briefing paper arguing in favour of a new UK national compensation scheme for possible adverse effects caused by a COVID-19 vaccine(s). In the paper, the authors draw upon historical, ethical, and legal perspectives to show that such a bespoke compensation scheme needs to be launched "without delay" and would play a significant role in ensuring the acceptability of COVID-19 vaccines to the general public.
