British Institute of International and Comparative Law appoints new Senior Research Fellow

It was announced today that Professor Yarik Kryvoi has been appointed as the Senior Research Fellow in International Economic Law and Director of the Investment treaty Forum (ITF) at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) in London.

Professor Kryvoi is a Professor of Law at the University of West London, where he will continue to have an affiliation. He has LLMs from Nottingham/Utrecht and Harvard, and a PhD from Moscow. He has published extensively in international economic law and international dispute resolution, and taught in many countries.

Prior to his academic career, he worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus & Deringer in London and Morgan Lewis & Bockius in Washington, D.C. He has advised investors, States, international organisations and non-governmental organisations on matters of international law, commercial and investor-state arbitration.

Speaking today Professor Robert McCorquodale, Director of BIICL said "We are delighted to welcome Yarik to BIICL. He brings a range of skills, abilities and experiences that should enhance and extend the activities of the ITF and of BIICL more generally".

Professor Kryvoi said: "It is a real privilege to lead the Investment Treaty Forum when issues of international investment and trade dominate the headlines globally. I look forward to researching and debating the most complex problems of law and policy with my new colleagues at BIICL and the wider legal community".

Professor Kryvoi will begin working with the Institute from January 2017.
