This lecture is the first in a series of lectures and seminars to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the adoption of the four Geneva Conventions of 1949. Since that date, these treaties have provided invaluable protection and assistance to victims of armed conflicts world-wide; they are also commonly considered to be the cornerstone of modern international humanitarian law. Dr Bugnion will discuss the important role of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the adoption of the Geneva Conventions and the continued involvement of that organization in promoting and strengthening principles of humanitarian law.
1.5 CPD hours may be claimed by both solicitors and barristers through attendance at this event.
