Event Details
UNCITRAL Working Group III is one of the six working groups established by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
UNCITRAL is the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law. Its mandate is to remove legal obstacles to international trade by progressively harmonizing and modernizing the rules of international business.
Working Group III specifically deals with investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) reform. Its mandate is to work on possible reform of ISDS, in light of the widespread criticisms and concerns regarding the current ISDS regime.
BIICL is convening a roundtable to discuss current and possible future implications of the work of the UNCITRAL Working Group III. This will include discussion of, amongst other topics:
- Standing mechanism for the resolution of international investment disputes
- Selection and appointment of ISDS tribunal members
- Procedural rules reform and cross-cutting issues
- Multilateral instrument to implement reforms
The roundtable is intended to provide a Forum for attendees to actively participate and share experiences and insights.
