Event Details

The arrival of significant new sources of sports club and league sponsorship and ownership is spreading across the world of sports. At the same time new configurations of leagues and modes of competition are being launched and challenged.

The role of competition law in the management of the new sporting alignments has become ever more important. Recent judgements in European Courts and the challenge of establishing new independent sports regulators have thrown this relationship into stark relief.

Our first Panel will examine the commercial and economic drivers of the new sporting realignment, while our second Panel will outline recent legal developments. Both will review existing frameworks while keeping a close eye on likely future trajectories. We will end with a discussion of the likely impact of developments on different stakeholders in the sporting world.
