Short Course: International Trade, Investment and Business Law
Course Details
This course has been developed to provide participants with a solid overview of the range of topics relevant to international business today. It brings together a combination of expertise in trade law, investment law and international business law. The course aims to provide a critical insights into the range of legal issues involved in international business, including international trade rules and how these affect businesses, foreign direct investment and investor state dispute resolution, business, human rights and environmental concerns, intellectual property, sanctions, taxation amongst others. Participants will benefit from specialist training in a range of aspects of international regulation, transactional requirements and the problems that challenge the success of businesses.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- Gain the theoretical and practical knowledge required to understand the international law of trade, investment, business structuring and transactions.
- Have a clear understanding of the range of legal issues involved in international business today, including international trade rules and how these affect businesses, foreign direct investment and investor state dispute resolution, business, human rights and environmental concerns, intellectual property, taxation etc.
- Gain a critical knowledge of the implications of trade, investment, intellectual property, human rights etc. for business activities
- Be able to identify the key issues that drive international trade and business in an increasingly globalised world.

Course format
The virtual course format will consist of a series of 5 double sessions in which live teaching is offered via Zoom. The course is taught in English by experts, legal practitioners and lecturers from several jurisdictions. The approach is practical and there will be plenty of opportunity for interaction with tutors and other participants.
