Privacy in an Open Society
Event Details
A Franco - British Lawyers Society Limited colloquium by kind permission of the Law School of King's College London.
This year the law of Privacy as it affects the media has been an issue strongly debated in the UK Parliament as well as in the Press. Article 8 and the Human Rights Act have also a great impact on UK law on investigatory powers (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act) and recently on family law, (Tchenguiz v Imerman). The European Convention on Human Rights requires French Law to conform to the same standards. But France has apparently achieved this with less controversy. Why the difference?
At this conference senior judges and lawyers from the UK and France, and the Information Commission will address these highly topical issues.
Attendance at the Colloquium will qualify for 6 hours CPD. The event is accredited with the Bar Standards Board, ILEX and the Solicitors Regulation Authority of England & Wales.
The event is accredited with the Law Society of Northern Ireland, the Bar Council of Northern Ireland and the Faculty of Advocates (Scotland). Solicitors in Scotland self-certify.
Accreditation is being applied for in France.
