Investment & Trade
International trade and Investment are at the forefront of international relations and the news headlines from around the globe. International investment law is an area of public international law which deals with issues relevant to foreign direct investments, normally to facilitate and protect such investments. States concluded thousands of international investment agreements, multilateral and bilateral (BITs) adhering to specific standards such as fair and equitable treatment, non-discrimination, protection in the event of expropriation. An important part of International Investment Law is the system of investor-state disputes (ISDS).
BIICL serves as a hub for a high-level research and debate on trade and investment through, amongst other things, the annual WTO Conference and its Investment Treaty Forum.
