Our offices are located in a Grade II* listed building which has had no major infrastructure improvements since it was built in 1976 and is no longer fit for purpose. We need to refurbish and reconfigure the space to provide a more modern, efficient and professional working environment, and an attractive and comfortable public space for events and meetings.
In summer 2019, we shall embark on a major refurbishment of our first-floor space in Charles Clore House. This will involve reconfiguration of the offices to make best use of the space, the installation of secondary glazing, sound reduction and better air circulation, new office furniture, improved storage and contemporary décor. We also want to create a new purpose-built event space with improved disabled access and state-of-the art audio visual equipment.
It is estimated that the total cost to BIICL will be in the region of £1,500,000 (much of which relates to essential upgrading of the fabric of the building and the installation of new services). Due to prudent financial management in recent years, we are able to draw down some funds from our reserves. But in order to retain sufficient working capital, we need to raise at least £500,000 in the next 12 months.
