Legal Pathways to Protection

Between October 2017 and March 2018, BIICL Associate Senior Research Fellow Dr Jean-Pierre Gauci, in collaboration with King's College London colleagues Dr Leonie Ansems de Vries and Dr Henry Redwood implemented a research initiative on Legal Pathways to Protection.

The initiative included an expert workshop at King's College London on 27 October 2017. and the development of a Policy brief entitled: Legal Pathways to Protection: Towards the Provision of Safe, Legal and Accessible Routes for Refugees and Vulnerable Migrants.

The workshop brought together academics, policy makers and civil society representatives and discussed an initial draft of the policy brief whilst also articulating a set of principles. The policy brief was further developed on the basis of the discussion and published online.

The policy brief was also presented and discussed with the Cross Whitehall Group on Migration and the Department for International Development. It has also been presented through various lectures and presentations.

The policy brief is available for download here
