Dr. Oliver Garner is the Research Fellow in the Rule of Law in Europe, British Institute of International and Comparative Law. He holds a B.A. in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford, and an LL.M. in Comparative, European and International laws and a Doctorate in Laws from the European University Institute (EUI). His Ph.D. thesis analyses the constitutional mechanisms for Member State withdrawal and opt-outs from the European Union.
His work has been published in the Cambridge Yearbook of European Legal Studies, the International Journal of Constitutional Law, and the European Journal of Legal Studies, and on online publications including the European Law Blog, Verfassungsblog, and the UK Constitutional Law Association Blog. He was previously employed as a Research Associate on the EU-CITZEN project of the Robert Schuman Centre of Advanced Studies in Florence, Italy. He is an editor of the European Law Blog and the European Journal of Legal Studies.
