Professor Mathilde Hautereau-Boutonnet
Biography
Mathilde Hautereau-Boutonnet joined BIICL as a visiting research fellow in 2022. Mathilde is a Professor at Aix-Marseille University. After defending her doctoral thesis in 2003 at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Orléans, she was recruited as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Rennes 1 in 2004 before joining the University of Aix-Marseille in 2011 to hold the CNRS Chair of Excellence in Environmental Law. Visiting professor at the Universities of Osaka, San Paolo (USPE), Brasilia (UNB) and Quebec (Laval), she is currently co-director of the Master in International and European Environmental Law at Aix-Marseille University and head of the international research group (CNRS) Justice and Environmental Law (JEL). Trained as a privatist and specialising in environmental law, she conducts various research projects aimed at demonstrating the evolution of the subject and the place of private instruments in environmental protection. She regularly teaches general courses (Introduction to Law, Law of Obligations, Family Law, Property Law, Contract Law, General Knowledge of the Law of Obligations) and specialised courses (Domestic and Comparative Environmental Law).
