Dr Kate McKenzie
Biography
Dr Kate McKenzie joined BIICL in 2026 as a Research Fellow in Climate Change Law and Litigation.
She is also founding director and CEO of the Climate Change Legal Initiative (C2LI), as well as Co-Lead of the Climate Litigation Cluster for the Climate Change Law Expert Group within the World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL), IUCN. She also serves as Managing Editor of the Carbon & Climate Law Review (CCLR), a quarterly journal focused on the legal aspects of climate change.
In addition to these roles, she is a licensed attorney with over 15 years of practice experience and teaches courses on International Climate Law, Climate Litigation and Human Rights, Climate Law and Litigation, Causation and Standing in Climate Litigation, and various topics on legal intersections with climate change, focusing on the practical application of academic research.
