Professor David Chekroun
Biography
Professor David Chekroun joined BIICL as a Honorary Senior Fellow in 2025. David is a tenured Professor of Business Law at ESCP Business School, where he teaches courses in international business transactions and corporate governance to law and business students across France, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and the United States.
His research focuses on international business law, law and finance, the screening of foreign direct investment (FDI), corporate governance, and complex legal issues. He has published numerous articles on international business transactions and serves as one of the Editors-in-Chief of the International Business Law Journal. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of the Institut Robert Badinter (Etudes et recherche sur le droit et la justice - formerly IERDJ).
Professor Chekroun is co-founder of FDI Control, an independent organisation dedicated to advancing expertise and conceptual frameworks in the evolving field of foreign direct investment.
At ESCP, he is Faculty Chair of the Law & Finance programme, which offers students a distinctive interdisciplinary education combining legal and financial perspectives. He previously held the KPMG Professorship in International Corporate Governance and currently serves as Executive Director of the Institute for Corporate Governance.
He has held visiting positions at NYU Abu Dhabi and the Cardozo School of Law in New York City, and was a Global Hauser Research Fellow at NYU School of Law. He has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Sorbonne Law School. In 2025, he was appointed an Honorary Senior Fellow of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.
Admitted to the Paris Bar, he advises clients on corporate governance matters and foreign direct investment projects.
An active member of several international think tanks, he contributes to the development of innovative policy initiatives and organises high-level conferences on FDI and corporate governance in Paris, London, Abu Dhabi, and New York.
He holds a Doctorate in Law from the Sorbonne Law School and a Master in European Business from ESCP.
