Aditi Shetye

Biography

Aditi is an environmental lawyer and specialises in climate change law and litigation. She joined BIICL as a researcher for the Corporate Climate Litigation Project and assists in developing the global toolbox. 

Aditi also works with the World's Youth for Climate Justice (WYCJ), a global youth-led initiative for the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion (ICJAO) initiative led by the Government of Vanuatu. She is the Academic Taskforce/Legal Advocacy Co-ordinator for WYCJ. She works as an executive assistant for the Climate Change Law Specialist Group (CCLSG) World Commission for Environmental Law (WCEL), IUCN. She has conducted research for the Ozone Secretariat, United Nations Environment Program. After qualifying as a lawyer in India, Aditi practiced civil and criminal litigation and worked as a judicial clerk at the Bombay High Court with Justice Revati Mohite-Dere and Justice M.S. Karnik.

She holds an LLM in Global Environmental Law and Governance from the University of Strathclyde Glasgow for which she received the Dean's International Excellence Award: Humanities and Social Sciences. She also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in National Environmental Law and Policy from National Law University Delhi, and a B.L.S./LL.B from the University of Mumbai.
