Adaena Sinclair-Blakemore

Biography

Adaena joined BIICL and ICLQ in 2025. She was previously a Judicial Assistant to a Judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and a Researcher at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge, where her research focused on international human rights law and international humanitarian law. She was also a Judicial Assistant to a Judge at the Federal Court of Australia, where she worked on cases concerning constitutional law, administrative law, native title and environmental law. She commenced her career practising as a solicitor in litigation and arbitration at a law firm in Melbourne.

She holds an LLM in international law from the University of Cambridge, a JD from the University of Melbourne and a BA in French and Italian from the University of Western Australia. During her studies, she was the Senior Editor of the Cambridge Human Rights Law Journal, a General Editor of the Cambridge International Law Journal and the Editor of the Melbourne Journal of International Law. Her work has been published in the Human Rights Law Review, the Cambridge International Law Journal, the Australian International Law Journal, the Journal of International Criminal Justice and the International Criminal Law Review.
