New BIICL project looks at monopolistic behaviour of online platforms
Today BIICL announced that it has received an award from the Open Society Foundation to examine the monopolistic behaviour of certain online platforms operating in Europe.
The research project, led by Senior Research Fellow Dr Liza Lovdahl Gormsen, will establish sustained dialogue between key stakeholders and map the external impacts of such platform monopolies on European citizens. The aim is to understand whether monopolistic behaviour is best dealt with through enforcement action or by developing regulatory tools to prevent market distortion by a small number of big companies.
The project is being funded by the Open Society Foundation
