ICLQ Joint Editor Receives Knighthood

Professor Sir Malcolm Evans OBE KCMG, joint editor (with Professor Robert McCorquodale) of the International and Comparative Law Quarterly journal, was knighted in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Sir Malcolm has been recognised for his work as Chair of the UN Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture, and for services to torture prevention and religious freedom, being appointed Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG), a special honour for exceptional service in relation to foreign and Commonwealth affairs.

The Foreign Office noted the award was in recognition of his "exceptional and unparalleled contribution to the global fight against torture and other inhuman treatment and punishment and a consistently strong contribution to the promotion of religious liberty. This award is in recognition of over twenty years of achievements in the field of international human rights."
