BIICL present 'Supporter of the Year' Award to Linklaters

LONDON, 26 March 2015 - The British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) has presented its 'Supporter of the Year' Award to global law firm, Linklaters, at the BIICL Annual Grotius Dinner 2015.

The prestigious Annual Dinner was held at The Law Society in London and attended by prominent figures in the legal profession; and wider community. The evening's proceedings included a speech by Sir Paul Jenkins KCB QC, former Treasury Solicitor and a Trustee of BIICL.

Established in 2012, the 'Supporter of the Year' Award recognises major support given to the Institute by an organisation or individual. As an independent legal research organisation, BIICL relies heavily on funding from law firms, corporations, international bodies, foundations, individuals and others.

Linklaters was one of the first law firms to support the establishment of the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law within BIICL, they've provided substantial core funding since 2010 and have renewed their support for another four years. They also sponsored an international conference in Singapore last year on 'The Importance of Rule of Law in Promoting Development'.

The Award was presented to Linklaters by Susan Bright, Managing Partner, Hogan Lovells LLP, and BIICL Trustee.

Sarah Taylor, Development Director of BIICL said: "Without the support of firms like Linklaters, BIICL would not be able to continue their valuable work which has an impact on law, constitutions and policy worldwide".

Robert Elliott, Chairman and Senior Partner at Linklaters commented: "We are delighted to be presented with this Award for supporting serious legal analysis and debate around major contemporary issues. It also symbolises our passion and dedication for upholding the rule of law and furthering its understanding".
