Safeguarding the Rule of Law, Democracy and Fundamental Rights

The Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law has finalised its report, 'Safeguarding the Rule of Law, Democracy and Fundamental Rights: A Monitoring Model for the European Union.' Led by Justine Stefanelli and Lucy Moxham, the report reviews existing monitoring mechanisms in the European Union, Council of Europe and United Nations, and proposes a monitoring mechanism that could be used by the European Union in the fields of fundamental rights, rule of law and democracy. The Bingham Centre is grateful to the Open Society European Policy Institute for funding this research. The report was also submitted to the European Commission's recent consultation on the future justice policy of the European Union.
