The Rule of Law and Judicial Activism; Lessons from India

The Leading advocate Harish Salve SA, a former Solicitor-General of India, gave a Bingham Centre lecture in which he discussed how the Indian Supreme Court came to develop the approach of judicial activism for which it is internationally known, and how this approach has ebbed and flowed over time.

The event was jointly hosted with the Constitutional and Administrative Law Bar Association (ALBA), who generously provided a drinks reception afterwards, and was chaired by Lord Woolf of Barnes. A summary of the lecture is available here
