ICLQ Annual Lecture 2026 Announced
Human Rights Obligations in Maritime Search and Rescue Featured in the 2026 Annual Lecture
Since 2011 the International and Comparative Law Quarterly (ICLQ) Annual Lecture has been a showcase for outstanding articles published in the Journal during the preceding year, as selected by the Editorial Board. It is with pleasure that we announce that the 2026 Annual Lecture will be given by Dr Sofia Galani of the Panteion University of Athens.
Dr Galani will deliver her lecture on 'Human Rights Obligations in Maritime Search and Rescue' based on her article published open access in Vol 74(1) ICLQ. The event, chaired by ICLQ General Editor, Professor Alex Mills, promises an insightful exploration into a highly topical and important issue that traverses human rights law, migration law and the law of the sea.
The Lecture takes place on 12 May 2026 from 5.30-7.30pm at BIICL in London (and via zoom) and will be followed by a drinks reception generously sponsored by the ICLQ's publishers, Cambridge University Press.
This event is free to attend, but advance registration is required. For more information and to book, please see the event page.
