Investigatory powers review - Independent Reviewer adopts Bingham Centre recommendations on judicial

In a landmark report on surveillance powers, Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation has adopted recommendations made by the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law. The Independent Reviewer proposes changes to the UK legal framework, including requiring all interception warrants to be authorised by a judge and the establishment of a single oversight body to replace the existing patchwork system. The Independent Reviewer expressly acknowledged the Centre as the source of some key recommendations.
