Migration

International migration is an issue of growing concern with major legal and political ramifications. Whether it is people fleeing persecution and war in search of international protection, or people displaced by climate change, or people trafficked into exploitation or migrants seeking employment or education prospects in other countries, global migration is a reality affecting all countries around the world. It is also a priority concern for a range of international organisations and the international community more broadly.

BIICL's research, training and events are at the forefront of issues around migration, displacement, human trafficking and migrants' rights. At present we are undertaking work on the Global Compacts on Migrants and Refugees, on the role of private vessels in maritime search and rescue of refugees and migrants at sea, and on the integration of third country nationals in select European Union Member States.
