Judicial Activism and the Rule of Law: Lessons from India

Event Details

Indian courts have for some decades enjoyed a reputation for judicial activism. The rise in public interest litigation has seen the courts ordering government action in areas such as housing, health rights and environmental matters. Such interventions in policy-making have inevitably proved controversial in the world's largest parliamentary democracy.

Lord Woolf, the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, will chair this event.
