The Special Procedures of the UN Human Rights Council and the Human Rights Situation in Iran

Dr Shaheed was appointed as the Special Rapporteur for the Human Rights Situation in Iran by the UN Human Rights Council in March 2011. He an internationally recognized expert on foreign policy, international diplomacy, democratization and human rights reform, especially in Muslim States. He has twice held the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.
Dr Shaheed will discuss the nature and scope of the human rights issues in Iran, and the role of his mandate. The panellists will discuss the difficult and challenging relationship between religion and international human rights law including in Iran.

Payment for registration will always be required, and must be made prior to the event. If sufficient written notification of cancellation is received, a full refund will be given. If insufficient notice is given, payment for your registration will still be required.
