The atrocities of 9/11 were a graphic reminder to the world of the damage that can be done by civil aircraft as result of terrorist acts.

This seminar will provide a timely consideration of the convention proposed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation to provide compensation for such events, which is the subject of an international diplomatic conference to be held in April-May 2009.

The seminar will consider the existing mechanisms providing remedies for aerial terrorism, the road to ICAO's draft convention and the terms of the draft itself. It will then consider the proposals contained in the draft convention from a number of different perspectives. These topics will be addressed by a distinguished panel of speakers, with time provided to debate the issues arising. The seminar will be followed by a drinks reception to which all attendees are invited.
