Forty-Sixth ITF Public Conference: ICSID Arbitration at 60: Past, Present and Future
Event Details
To mark the 60th anniversary of the entry into force of the ICSID Convention the Investment Treaty Forum is pleased to announce its forthcoming conference, "ICSID Arbitration at 60: Past, Present and Future."
The conference will bring together leading practitioners, academics, arbitrators, government officials and representatives of international organisations to reflect on the evolution of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes system and its continuing role in international investment law.
The conference will examine both procedural and substantive developments in ICSID arbitration, including amendments to the ICSID Rules, recent trends in case law and statistics, and the evolution of formulating and interpretation key treaty standards of protection such as fair and equitable treatment (FET) and indirect expropriation. Discussions will also address broader systemic developments, including efficiency, third-party funding, damages, and annulment practice.
Looking ahead, the conference will explore future directions of investor-State dispute settlement, including reform proposals currently being considered within United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Working Group III, questions concerning legitimacy and consistency, and the possible future architecture of international investment adjudication and ICSID role's in it.
We are pleased to announce that Meg Kinnear (Low & Kinnear, Washington, DC) will deliver the keynote address.
