Event Details
This event will examine the evolving relationship between investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) and countries of the Global South. It will explore the practical and systemic effects of ISDS on developing and emerging economies, including financial exposure, regulatory space, and policy autonomy.
Particular attention will be paid to managing counsel, controlling costs, and building in-house capacity to handle complex arbitration proceedings effectively. The discussion will also address ongoing reform efforts at the multilateral and regional levels, highlighting opportunities for greater balance, transparency, and inclusiveness in the system.
Speakers include representatives of governments, leading law firms, and academia, offering diverse institutional and regional perspectives.
