Event Details

This two-hour roundtable will discuss the upcoming May 2026 review of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

The DMA is one of Europe's most ambitious efforts to regulate digital markets, and its first mandatory review is approaching at a critical juncture. Although the regulation has been in effect for just over a year, the European Commission has already initiated a public consultation, closing on September 24, to evaluate its impact.

This timing presents a challenge: comprehensive data on the DMA's effects is limited. However, the review offers a vital opportunity to assess its impact on consumers and European competitiveness, particularly in light of the EU's broader economic objectives.

The review's scope is extensive. It will not only evaluate whether the DMA has achieved its core objectives of contestability and fairness but also consider potential adjustments to gatekeeper obligations, including the extension of interoperability requirements for social networking services.
