Forty-Fourth ITF Public Conference: Evolving Standards of Investment Protection: Recent Developments and New Trends
Event Details
The British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) is pleased to announce a forthcoming conference exploring the evolving landscape of investment protection. This conference will offer a comprehensive analysis of the latest developments in key investment protection standards. It will provide an opportunity to review and understand recent cases, new treaties, and other significant changes that impact investment protection policies and practices.
The keynote address by Professor Federico Ortino, Co-Director of the Centre for International Governance & Dispute Resolution (CIGAD) at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, will examine the "drivers," "techniques," and "outcomes" that have shaped the development of international treaty standards. It will explore the evolution of both arbitral practice and treaty-making (policy), focusing on (a) the contextual factors behind this evolution, (b) the tools used by key actors—primarily investors, tribunals, and States—to drive change, and (c) the key results and implications of this evolution.
This event will bring together leading practitioners, government officials and experts in international investment law, arbitration, and policy reform to discuss recent developments and reform proposals. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on the current state and future of investment protection standards.
