Training Details
As climate change increasingly impacts economies, societies, and ecosystems, the role of the judiciary in addressing corporate accountability has never been more critical. Corporate climate litigation represents a rapidly evolving field at the intersection of law, science, and governance, requiring judges to navigate complex legal, procedural, and evidentiary challenges. This training equips judges with the knowledge and tools to address these challenges effectively, fostering a deeper understanding of corporate responsibility, innovative legal arguments, and practical remedies. By focusing on the latest developments and comparative approaches, the training supports judicial capacity-building to advance climate justice and uphold the rule of law in the face of unprecedented global environmental challenges.
This training is part of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law's (BIICL) ongoing Global Toolbox on Corporate Climate Litigation project, organised in collaboration with the EU Forum of Judges for the Environment (EUFJE) and supported by the Climate Change Law Specialist Group - World Commission on Environmental Law, IUCN and the Climate Change Legal Initiative (C2LI). The training offers a focused and practical dialogue on the evolving frontiers of corporate climate litigation, showcasing insights from leading academics, scientists, and experienced judges.
