Report Launch: Impacts of Human Rights Due Diligence Laws on Internal Corporate Practice
Date: 15 October 2024

Venue: BIICL, Charles Clore House, 17 Russell Sq London WC1B 5JP and Online
Event Details
Legislation imposing mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence (mHREDD) are multiplying. While these laws are all based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), they use different legislative models - including some provisions which limit or contradict UNGPs expectations. In this way, each legal model necessitates slightly different corporate practices. Although these laws are new, companies and their legal advisers are already taking steps towards implementation and anticipate changes resulting from the transposition of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.
After a 12-month research, at this event BIICL team will launch a report on the impacts of mHREDD regulation on corporate practice, present key findings and recommendation to inform the design and implementation of more effective mHREDD laws and hear reflections from key stakeholders.
