On 4 February 2016, twelve countries from Asia, North America and South America signed the Trans- Pacific Partnership, a 30-chapter, 6,000-page free trade agreement: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam. When it enters into force, the TPP will create the largest regional free trade area in the world, covering 40% of global GDP. Among the TPP's many provisions is a comprehensive chapter on investment. This seminar brings together current and former government officials from TPP states to provide a first look at the provisions of the investment chapter in both a regional and global context.
