This year, the London-Leiden conference revisited a theme it explored in 2009: preliminary references at the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU). The UK's notice of its intention to withdraw from the EU has cast into doubt the future of its relationship with the CJEU, and the fate of the Unified Patent Court. In its 56th year, the London-Leiden meeting on EU examined the uncertain nature of these relationships, in Sessions I and II, and hosted a Brexit Roundtable in Session III.
