This seminar provided an opportunity to consider the impact of countermeasures and sanctions on human rights. In addition to reviewing some key distinctions between the notions of countermeasures, sanctions and other related terms, such as reprisals, the event offered an insight into the impact of specific forms of sanctions or countermeasures on human rights.
