This event will be followed by a book launch and wine reception for "The Brussels I Review Proposal Uncovered," edited by Dr Eva Lein, Herbert Smith Senior Research Fellow in Private International Law at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.


The Brussels I Regulation (EC) No 44/2001 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters is one of the key instruments of European Private International Law. It is currently undergoing a review process.

Various changes have been suggested by the European Commission in the Review Proposal, some of them have been subsequently amended in the legislative process. This event focuses on the latest news from Brussels on the text of the recast.

In addition, the event will highlight and debate several important recent Brussels I decisions.

All cancellations must be made in writing via email to eventsregistration@biicl.org and be no less than one week prior to the event.

Payment for registration will always be required, and must be made prior to the event. If sufficient written notification of cancellation is received, a full refund will be given. If insufficient notice is given, payment for your registration will still be required.
