Event Details

What is this event about?
This event will discuss the recent Permanent Court of Arbitration award concerning the territorial dispute between the Government of Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army in relation to the Abyei region in Sudan. Speakers will place the dispute in its wider political and historical context, as well as examining the legal issues that arose during the arbitration process and progress in the implementation of the award. The event will also examine how arbitration can serve as a valuable mechanism to resolve what is essentially an internal dispute and will assess the prospects of similar approaches to conflicts in other States.

2 CPD hours may be claimed by both solicitors and barristers through attendance at this event.
