Event Details

What is this event about?

This event will discuss the recent arbitration award which determines the boundaries of the Abyei region in Sudan, addressing the dispute between the Government of Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army. The context of the dispute will be presented, as well as the legal issues which arose during the arbitration process. Furthermore, the event will examine how arbitration can serve as a dispute resolution mechanism in what is essentially a dispute within Sudan; thus the focus of the event will not be limited to the issue of boundaries delimitation but will encompass much wider considerations.
