The arrest of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte: The impact ten years later on the UK, Chile and the world

Amnesty International and SOAS are pleased to invite you to a seminar to mark the tenth anniversary of the historic arrest of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte, the former President of Chile in London. He was subsequently held on a Spanish court warrant seeking his trial based on universal jurisdiction for torture in Chile. The panel explores the dramatic impact of the arrest a decade later on the UK, Chile and the world and what it means for the global struggle against impunity for the worst imaginable crimes.
