FBLS/AJFB Annual Colloquium

25th October 2007

The French Section is pleased to invite you to the FBLS/AJFB Annual Colloquium to be held as planned October 25, 26 and 27 at the Cour de Cassation in Paris, and in Reims, in Champagne, on the following subjects:

  • In Vino Veritas?
  • In Vino Severitas?
  • In Vino Cordialitas?

The Real Impact of Law on Wines and Spirits

The French Committee wanted this year's Colloquium to be devoted to wine and all its symbolism. This idea, both cultural and playful, will let us examine the subject via the following four round-tables:

i) La protection du produit : des indications d'origine au droit des marques / Product Protection Measures Ranging from Indications of Origin to Trademark Law ;

ii) La protection du consommateur "IN VINO DIABOLICUM ?" / Consumer Protection ;

iii) Doit et économie de la distribution / Economics and Law of Distribution ; et

iv) Viticulture et la culture du vin / Viticulture and the Culture of Wine

This year's programme is particularly rich:

To begin with, we will be welcomed on the evening of October 25 by cocktails held at the Maison du Barreau, Place Dauphine. Then, on October 26, we will begin our sessions at the Cour de Cassation. That evening, we will dine on a river boat anchored just opposite Notre Dame de Paris. The next morning, we will make a day trip to Reims, in Champagne, where we will visit a wine cellar and enjoy a wine tasting before having lunch and visiting the Cathedral.
