Event Details

CESR plays a key role in the new European regulatory structure established following the Lamfalussy Report of 2001 on the Regulation of European Securities Markets. CESR was set up to enhance co-operation and convergence in securities supervision in Member States and to provide the Commission with specialist advice on securities matters.
The speaker will discuss the challenges faced by CESR and its predecessor FESCO (the Forum of European Securities Commissions) Has CESR delivered the results promised by the Lamfalussy reforms, or does the spectre of a Single European Regulator continue to threaten national securities regulation?
