The Annual ICLQ Lecture this year will be based on the paper 'International Conception of the Family'. The paper was authored jointly by Fareda Banda and John Eekelaar. It examines the evolving way the 'family' and 'family life' have been understood in international and regional human rights instruments and in the case law of the relevant institutions.

The event will also provide the opportunity to present the 2017 Young Scholar with their award of £250 worth of Cambridge University Press titles of their choice. This year the prize is awarded to Pok Yin S. Chow for his article 'Reservations as Unilateral Acts? Examining the International Law Commission's Approach to Reservations'.

The lecture is being hosted at BIICL in Russell Square and will be followed by a reception generously sponsored by Cambridge University Press, who publish the ICLQ.
