I am very grateful to have been awarded an International Visiting Fellowship at the Bingham Centre, where I spent a week in April 2017. I am currently working on a research project on judicial procedures and the rule of law and I benefitted greatly from the opportunity to present an aspect of this work to the researchers at the Bingham Centre and also to discuss it more informally with them. I was also introduced to some of the research carried out at the Bingham Centre, especially the work on the appointment, tenure and removal of judges under Commonwealth principles, which I have since found very useful in developing my own ideas on judicial independence. I attended the weekly staff meeting, which exposed me to the impressive range of research conducted at the Centre. Finally, I would like to acknowledge the assistance of the Centre Manager, who organised my visit for me and made it run very smoothly.
