Full Description

The British Institute of International and Comparative Law in London is delighted to offer three scholarships to three young Iranian scholars. The selected scholars will travel to London and attend a one-month program (from 15 October to 13 November 2008) where they will undertake research and activities in the field of International Law including climate change, humanitarian law, human rights law, and other topics. The scholarship will also provide selected candidates with the great opportunity to carry out research for a short paper under the supervision of BIICL Researchers. The paper will then be published in the Bulletin of International Legal Developments (BILD).

In addition to carrying out research, the selected candidates will be introduced to important areas of International Law which are currently the subject of extensive academic debate. Furthermore, they will be able to attend academic events and seminars on these subjects, as the British Institute Annual Conference, and other training in the UK and Europe on contemporary subjects.

Many of the activities organised will be aimed at enhancing the practical and professional skills of the selected scholars. These include visits to the District Family Court; meetings with international law and human rights practitioners in London, including visits to barrister chambers; the opportunity to attend a court hearing at the House of Lords, and a visit to international institutions in London will be organised as well.
