Judge Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh, International Court of Justice
Judge Awn Shawkat Al-khasawneh is a Judge of the International Court of Justice (The Hague). He is a member of the World Court since 6 February 2000 and was the Vice-President of the Court from 6 February 2006 to 5 February 2009. He is also the Chairperson of the International Law Association Committee on Islamic Law and International Law.

In his lecture, Judge Awn Shawkat Al-khasawneh will be examining 'the role and influence of Islamic Law before Courts of Law'.

Professor Tarik Ramadan, Oxford University
Tariq Ramadan is Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at the Oxford University (Oriental Institute, St Antony's College). He is also teaching at the Oxford Faculty of Theology. He is at the same time Senior Research Fellow at Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan)

Professor Tarik Ramadan will be talking about 'Islamic Law before National Court'.


The public lecture will be of great interest both to academics engaged in the research of Islamic Law and to practitioner wanting to learn more about the practical implementation of Islamic law.
