What is this seminar about?

The speakers will analyse the European Court of Justice rulings in Laval (Case C-341/05), Viking Line ( Case C-438/05) and Volkswagen ( Case C-112/05) .
Among the issues to be discussed are the impact of these cases on:

  • The free movement of capital and the abolition of Member State protectionist barriers
  • The horizontal direct effect of Articles 43 and 49 of the Treaty and the implications for action to frustrate a takeover bid
  • Social Policy and the right of trade unions to take collective action
