The UK in Europe, Scotland in the UK? The Implications of the EU Referendum

The latest round of opinion polls continue to place the 'remain' and 'leave' camps seemingly neck and neck ahead of the forthcoming referendum on the UK's membership of the EU. Whilst the likely outcome of the referendum is unclear, what is clear is that the status quo is not on the table: both a vote to leave and - in light of the Prime Minister's renegotiation package - a vote to remain in the EU will result in significant changes to the relationship between the UK and EU. Less clear is what the implications of those changes might be for the UK, for Scotland and for the EU itself.
In order to shed some light on these changing dynamics this event - the first such collaboration between Strathclyde Law School and the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law - will see two expert panels explore the implications of the referendum result, whatever that might be.
First, the Dean of Faculty, James Wolffe QC, will chair a panel consisting of Professor Jo Shaw, Alyn Smith MEP and Professor Drew Scott, that will explore the implications of a vote to remain in the EU. Following this, Sylvie Da Lomba (Lecturer in EU Law at Strathclyde Law School) will chair a panel consisting of Professor Michael Keating, Christine O'Neill (chairman at Brodies) and James Mure QC that will explore the implications of a vote to leave the EU.
Tea and coffee will be available at registration, and the event will be followed by a wine reception.

The British Institute of International and Comparative Law reserves the right to modify or cancel any event if unforeseen circumstances arise. If we cancel an event we shall inform you as soon as possible using the contact details provided to us and offer you a full refund.
Cancellation by you
All cancellations must be made in writing via email to eventsregistration@biicl.org and be no less than one week prior to the event.
Payment for registration will always be required, and must be made prior to the event. If sufficient written notification of cancellation is received, a full refund will be given. If insufficient notice is given, payment for your registration will still be required.
No charge events
All events are costly to set up, even those for which there is 'no charge'. If you register but find you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. As a charity we need to cover the costs of events, and we may charge you a fee of £10 for administration and catering costs if you fail to attend or give us less than 24 hours' notice.
